Interesting Creatures!

Characterized by their large size, furry body, and 6 eyes, Wolf Spiders are easy to spot.  If I go out at dusk into the woods behind our house, I could count thousands (literally) of these.  The eyes glow in the dark when light catches them, much like any land mammal.  Perhaps that is why we are never really bothered by mosquitoes around our pond.  This one is carrying her egg sac around, and any day now it will burst teaming with literally hundreds of young.

This Green Leaf Moth was apparently injured because it never moved for several hours, and appeared traumatized.   As long as it doesn't munch on our garden!

I found these creatures hanging around our house.  They were cute so I snapped a photo of them as well.

Garden fruit and snapping turtles!

Caught one of these guys this weekend while fishin'.  Hooked him right through mouth and into the eye socket.  He'll be blind and not sure if he'll live or not, but I tried to take care of him and put him back in the pond.

We're also starting to get the first fruits of our garden pop up!  Can't wait til we can do some pickin'.
