Deer Season has arrived!
Turtle Hatchlings
In case you didn't know, September is when turtles hatch. I watched one of these hatch, literally from the shell.
Past Pickin' Parties
A little behind on the photos, in June we picked several gallons of blueberries, in July we picked up candy in the annual beach parade, in July we picked and peeled several gallons of apples, in August we finished pickin the green beans, and in September we picked our noses.
Land Between the Lakes, TN/KY
Back to "turkey stomping grounds" - at least that's what I call it because we always see so many here. We also saw lots of deer. This was a lazy sit-by-the-fire type of car campin' trip. We had a blast!
A view from our campsite.
On Saturday they were having a festival at the Visitor Center. The kids liked
painting rocks and handling snakes.
Corban preparing to throw the Atlatl.
I think we hit a bison!
Dakota was real serious about this after seeing the bison Corban downed.
Throwing with all her might, she soared over the bison. Accuracy, not brute strength, little grasshopper!
Turns out he wasn't too bad hurt.
Goldenrod was everywhere.
The joys of boys.
We ate like kings on this trip.
Road-less, Trail-less Richland Creek Wilderness Area, AR
Unspoilt by human influence, preserved for foot-travel exploration and not gas-guzzling exploitation, this Wilderness Area tucked in the back pocket of Arkansas is difficult to see. Want to see waterfalls? Then just boulder hop up Richland Creek cause there ain't no trails, and hang a right after several miles when you hit the confluence of Big Devil's Fork. Twin Falls, Richland Creek Falls, and Falling Water Falls await! Bushwhacking, thick poison ivy, and unstable blufflines are the norm. Perfect for a 2 year old!
